Morning Routine Chart
A picture chart helps children see what happens next — and do more of it themselves. Choose your steps, put them in your family’s order and print.

Making mornings smoother
Start the night before
Lay out clothes, pack the bag and set out breakfast bowls in the evening. Less to decide means less rushing.
Keep the order the same
Doing steps in the same order every day turns them into habits. Change the chart only when something really needs to change.
Point, don’t repeat
Instead of repeating instructions, try “What’s next on your chart?” It invites your child to lead.
Let them check it off
Place a sticker, a clothespin or a dry-erase mark in the box when each step is done. Laminating the chart or using a sheet protector makes it reusable.
Build in hair time
Plan a simple style and protect hair at night so the morning takes minutes. See our School Hair Routine page for ideas.
Brush teeth together
For ages 3–6, use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste, brush twice a day, and help with brushing until your child can do it well — often around age 8.
